Brandon grew up on the Navajo reservation with a family that strongly supported education. Committed to succeeding and inspired by his grandfather, who told Brandon how his life would have been different had he finished high school, Brandon set out to make his family proud of him with his educational achievements. He says he pushed himself hard to study and attended every class and on-time, culminating in his graduation from high school in 2010.
Brandon is now a second-year culinary arts major at Navajo Technical College, where he plans to graduate with a certificate in the program, before continuing on to complete an associate’s degree in arts and sciences.
“With the help of this scholarship I will be able to continue with my education without the fear of struggling to pay off my outstanding bills. I will be able to earn my degree knowing that I earned it through all the long nights of studying, endless essays, and hours of lectures. Thank you. You have made a difference in my life and I wouldn’t have been able to pursue my career without this scholarship,” Brandon says.
