Kevin (Crow) is a father of two daughters who has helped raise, mentor, and guide several foster and adopted children. Kevin served for 15 year in the military, and earned the rank of a Noncommissioned Officer (NCO). “As a minority, becoming an NCO was a challenge. Some soldiers are reluctant to take orders from a Native American, but I had to be professional and train the younger generation to be better than me.” Kevin's military work inspired his post-military career goals. “I became fascinated about teamwork that influenced the care that soldiers gave the wounded,” he says. He became a Certified Nurses Aid after leaving the military, and currently works as a nurse's aid at area hospitals and nursing homes.
Between family and job responsibilities and his hobbies of creating Native American regalia, cooking, learning the guitar, and studying Crow language, one would think Kevin would have little time for studying at college. But Kevin is a sophomore at Little Big Horn College, where he is working towards his goal of becoming a nurse practitioner.
Kevin says his goal is to use his nursing background as an officer in the military. After leaving the military, he plans to return to his community in Montana and use his nursing skills.
