|USA Funds awarded $100,000 to the American Indian College Fund (the Fund) for marketing and scholarship support. Fifty thousand dollars of the gift paid for sponsored marketing to create awareness about the Fund and raise scholarship support for American Indian students attending tribal colleges and universities (TCUs) across the United States, including promotions for the Fund’s 2012 Annual Flame of Hope Gala, which raised more than $650,000. An additional $50,000 of the gift was presented to benefit the Richard B. Williams-Seventh Generation Leadership Endowment scholarship, which was established to honor the Fund’s retired President and CEO.
“The American Indian College Fund is committed to helping Native students achieve the dream of a postsecondary education. That mission is in line with USA Funds’ mission to enhance preparation for, access to and success in postsecondary education, specifically for low-income students, students of color, and students who are the first in their families to attend college,” said Carl Dalstrom, USA Funds President and CEO. “Every student deserves the opportunity to pursue a postsecondary degree and the American Indian College Fund is making that happen for Native students. USA Funds is proud to support the Fund and the positive impact it has on the students it serves.”
