The L.P. Brown Foundation Grants $15,000 for Scholarships

December 1, 2011

The L.P. Brown Foundation has granted the American Indian College Fund $15,000 for scholarships for American Indian students attending tribal colleges.

Richard B. Williams, President and CEO of the American Indian College Fund, said, “The continued generosity of the L.P. Brown Foundation will help American Indian students earn a college degree and lift them and their families out of poverty, while also allowing them to give back to their communities.”

Bryan Morgan, a member of the board of directors of the L.P. Brown Foundation, said, “As a lawyer in the 1970s, I visited a number of reservations in the central and northern plains and was unprepared for the desperate need I saw there. My work as a lawyer and as an outside reviewer for the Native American Rights Fund was a guiding force for my interest in American Indian issues. Looking at the historical record, I wanted to do my best in a small way to try to improve things, and I believe education is the best tool to implement change.”
