Hope on the Rez Video Released by American Indian College Fund

The new five-minute documentary video describes how the American Indian College Fund (the Fund) works to improve the lives of American Indian college students attending tribal colleges and universities.

The Fund, along with its longtime Portland, Oregon-based advertising agency partner, Wieden+Kennedy, traveled to Indian country to record Native students telling their powerful stories. A team of professional cinematographers, photographers, and creative professionals toured the tribal colleges and universities; and attended graduation ceremonies. As the cameras rolled, students, elders, tribal college presidents, and community members described the miracles that cultural-based education through tribal colleges is producing for people of all ages.

American Indian College Fund's 12th Annual Flame of Hope Gala

Mark your calendars! The 2007 Flame of Hope Gala will be held Thursday, November 8 at the United Nations Delegates Dining Room in New York City. Join us as we celebrate the success of our nation's tribal colleges, honor our supporters, and raise funds for more than 5,000 scholarships.

A special evening of entertainment is planned. The Bacon Brothers, featuring musician/songwriter/Emmy-award winning composer Michael Bacon and younger brother and critically acclaimed actor Kevin Bacon will headline the event. The Redhawk Dance Troupe, comprised of Native performing artists, will also perform.

Dan Wildcat, author of the newly released book Red Alert! Saving the Planet with Indigenous Knowledge, will also make a special appearance. Wildcat is a Yuchi member of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma, former Fund scholarship recipient, co-director of the Haskell Environmental Research Studies Center, and American Indian Studies faculty at Haskell Indian Nations University in Kansas.

Honorees at this year's event include The New York Times advertising department; Toyota Motor Sales; and lifetime Fund volunteer Judi Gott.

Celebrity Co-Chairs include Adam Beach and Tom Skerritt.
