Ford Motor Company Continues Support of American Indian College Fund For Scholarships with $140,000

Denver (September 4, 2007) –Ford Motor Company awarded $140,000 to the American Indian College Fund (the Fund) for scholarships for American Indian education.

The funds are a continuation of scholarship support from the automaker, and will be available for 2007-08 academic year scholarships. Tribal college students can receive up to $5,000 per year, and mainstream students are eligible for up to $10,000. Student financial need, education enrollment status, and community involvement will be considered as criteria for scholarship awards. Last year 33 tribal college students and 16 mainstream students received scholarships from Ford.

“At Ford, we are committed to enhancing and improving opportunities through education,” said Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. “We are proud supporters of the American Indian College Fund and their commitment to providing our youth with the resources and skills needed to create tomorrow's innovative thinkers.”

The grant supports qualified American Indian students by providing financial support to encourage them to complete a college degree, facilitating a better life for themselves, their families, and valuable contributions to their communities and nation.
