FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Citigroup and Citibank Sponsor Entrepreneur & Career Fair Mission, SD (April 18, 2006) -Sinte Gleska University (SGU) students hosted an entrepreneur and career fair for students and community members wanting to learn more about careers in business and other fields on April 19th - 20th, 2006 on the SGU campus. This unique program, organized by SGU students who have received Citigroup Foundation scholarships from the American Indian College Fund, is in its fourth year. Open to the entire community, the event featured employers and professionals who addressed such topics as economic development in Indian Country, financing small businesses, and networking opportunities. Intended to expose students to career options and share information on what types of education and commitment are necessary to succeed in their chosen fields, the program is growing in popularity each year. The program is sponsored by Citigroup and Citibank, in partnership with the Fund. "Citigroup is proud to sponsor the Citigroup Entrepreneur and Career Fair and provide scholarships to Sinte Gleska University students," said Jerry Nachtigal, Vice President of Public and Government Affairs for Citibank. "We believe everyone should have access to a high-quality education that helps them acquire the knowledge and skills to find a rewarding career, manage their lives, and fully participate in society." "The American Indian College Fund is pleased to support this program again this year," said Fund President Richard Williams. "It provides precisely the type of much-needed knowledge that we, as Indian people, will need to build strong economies and grow Indian-owned businesses." Founded in 1989, the American Indian College Fund is the nation's largest provider of private scholarships for Native American students. It offers access to 32 fully accredited tribal colleges that serve over 30,000 part-and full-time students from more than 250 North American tribes. With its credo, "Educating the Mind and Spirit," the Fund distributes over $4 million in scholarships and program support to tribal colleges annually. # # # |
