Earlier this month, the Fort Berthold Community College (FBCC) welcomed Edna Sailor as the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) Program-Data Coordinator. Sailor will be administering the Training for Regional Energy in North Dakota (TREND) program grant funds made available through the U.S. Department of Labor.
In 2012, the TREND Consortium received $14.6 million which is shared between FBCC, Williston State College, Bismarck State College, Sitting Bull College, and Turtle Mountain Community College.
Sailor will administer the grant with the purpose of expanding and improving FBCC’s delivery of education and career training programs that can be completed in two years or less.
Sailor said, “We will be offering stackable credentials for students to design their careers.”
TREND grant training at FBCC translates directly to the relevance of employer needs in the immediate and surrounding area. FBCC has targeted Building and Construction Trades, Welding, Oil Technician and CDL trainings and certifications. Career opportunities include Mechanical Maintenance, Petroleum Operations, Natural Gas Processing Plant Operations, Truck Driving, Carpentry, Welding and others.
“I am excited about being a part of the activity in these industries,” Sailor expressed. “I am very happy to be back at Fort Berthold Community College, where I started my career just out of college.”
Sailor comes to her position with an extensive administrative and academic background. She was a fulltime faculty at FBCC from 1983 to 1995. She gained experience in education and training in the university system at Lake Region State College as the Director of Continuing Education, served as Executive Director of the American Institute of Banking Training programs, and, most recently, as Work Based Learning Coordinator and Business/Community Liaison for Burdick Job Corps in Minot.
