Sisseton Wahpeton College
to Host Citi Scholars Career Expo

Sisseton, South Dakota (April 17, 2008) Sisseton Wahpeton College in Sisseton, South Dakota, will host the 2008 Citi Scholars Career Expo May 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sisseton Wahpeton College Log Cabin. The event theme will be Post Two-Year Education to develop future tribal leaders. The program will expose the student body and community to post-associate's degree education opportunities and career opportunities with major local tribal employers.

The program starts at 10 a.m. with a prayer. The program will include presentations by Jerry Nachtigal of Citigroup; Ashley Renville, vice president of the student body and an American Indian College Fund scholarship recipient; Harvey Dumarce, president of academic affairs; and a representative of the American Indian College Fund. Katherine Akipa, an instructor at Sisseton Wahpeton College , will deliver the keynote motivational speech. She will discuss the power of education and how it helped to transform her life.

A pizza lunch and social hour will follow the program at noon.

Representatives from local tribal employers, casinos, Indian Health Service, Morris University, Northern State University, and the University of North Dakota will be available to discuss educational and career opportunities with attendees throughout the event.
