For more than 10 years, the Target Corporation has helped Native students pursue a college education at tribal colleges and universities with its Target Tribal College Scholarship Program.
For Jessica, education has always been a significant part of life because she feels it will lead her to the type of life she wants to have as an adult. She takes her studies seriously, and has been named to the Dean’s List every semester.
After earning her associate’s degree, Jessica plans to transfer to the University of Nebraska- Lincoln to continue her studies and earn a bachelor’s degree.
“I know it takes hard work and determination to receive good grades and to graduate from college. And that is exactly what I am doing; I wake up every school morning ready to start the day because I know it is my education that will take me to where I need to be in life with a wonderful education and a career I will enjoy, while still helping my American Indian community,” Jessica says.
“This scholarship will help me to pursue my education and career goals by allowing me to be more financially stable while I am enrolled in college. Being a college student, we are constantly faced with surprising bills and expenses. We then are forced to find part time jobs which put a damper on our studies. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity you are offering American Indian college students. Rewards and scholarships like this are what keeps me on top of my college studies because I know the hard work is and will pay off in the end,” she says.
