Development Officer
The Development Officer is responsible for prospecting, developing, and stewarding corporate and tribal donors on a national level. This position requires creating new partnerships with potential supporters by identifying alignment strategies with donor philanthropic goals and existing programs at member tribal colleges. Additionally, the Development Officer will meet with current corporate and tribal supporters in Colorado and throughout the country to ensure proper stewardship of funds and to strengthen existing relationships. The incumbent is expected to reach fundraising objectives and goals. Principle duties include:
- Implement plan to prospect, re-establish, maintain and develop new corporate and tribal donor relationships nationally and throughout Indian Country.
- Monitor tribal and corporate fundraising plan and analyze the results to determine necessary revisions.
- Collaborate with internal resource development teams to develop fundraising initiatives based on national empirical evidence and donor database analysis.
- Work closely with special event staff to identify sponsors and to execute strategic post-event follow-up.
- Orchestrate a variety of donor mailings by utilizing tactical segmentation plans and effective mailing materials.
- Manage public recognition process for donor gifts, new partnerships and new grant programs.
- Compile completed scholarship program information and write year-end grant reports for current supporters.
- Prepare written and present verbal reports to management and the Board regarding results of fundraising efforts.
- Utilize Raiser’s Edge donor database as a tool to track corporate and tribal communications, action items, contacts, giving history, reporting history, and any other relevant data related to fundraising and donor stewardship efforts.
- Other obligations that fulfill the development and fundraising objectives of the Fund.
Skills:
- Ability and enthusiasm for making cold calls as well as conversing with prospective and current donors.
- Exemplary writing, communication, project management, networking and computer/data management skills.
- Strong computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications and experience with organizational databases.
- Ability to organize, manage and meet deadlines for multiple projects.
- Personal characteristics sought include initiative, discretion, mature judgment and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree with one to five years of direct fundraising, grant writing, business and/or public relations experience.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the fundraising goals of the organization.
- Must show proof of insurance, current valid driver’s license and possess good driving record.
- Must be a positive person and committed to the mission of the Fund.
Additional consideration will be given to candidates with:
- Familiarity with business, accounting, and fundraising practices.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse cultures. Experience in higher education and familiarity with tribal colleges and American Indian culture, education and communities desired.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to lift twenty pounds.
- Multi-tasking with a variety of different responsibilities.
- Travel is necessary to donor meetings, events, conferences, etc.
- May be required to work some evenings and weekends.

Office Manager
The Office Manager provides essential support to the Fund by assisting management in ensuring that the Fund has adequate competent staff. Further ensures that the Fund has support services in the area of front desk coverage, internet, telephone, and other utilities. Provides this support to management and staff through employee recruitment, orientation, development of employee policies and procedures, personnel record maintenance and ensurance of a standardized performance evaluation program.
The Office Manager ensures the smooth operations of a business in the supervision of the Front Desk, which includes receptionist duties, adequacy of office supplies and other office support services.
The Office Manager provides oversight to the facility in management of tenant services. This includes the general responsibility of property management, administration of lease agreements, and management of relationships with outside service providers and building tenants.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, update and maintain a job posting network that meets the need of fulfilling positions within the Fund
- Posts the Fund’s open position with all appropriate sites in the recruiting network.
- Manages the overall hiring process including employment, applications, and interviewing process with management and or departmental teams.
- Responsible for the overall management, maintenance and security of employee personnel records and files
- Supervise Front Desk Administrator and front desk coverage and ensures completion of duties including but are not limited to:
- Answer Phones
- Postage and Postage machine
- Copy machines
- Fax machine
- Maintain daily schedule
- Maintain conference room schedule
- Ensure adequacy of office supplies
- Handling incoming and outgoing mail
- Processing bank deposits
- Miscellaneous other duties
- Provide oversight to organizational policies and procedures by providing timely documentation and updates to employee handbook and final posting in public folders, other shared folders, and HR Connections or other web-based resources.
- Train and provide to Fund Management and Supervisory Staff current personnel policies and legal human resource practices
- Manage the development and completion of all Fund job descriptions in a standardized format.
- Coordinates and ensures the Fund final completion of staff Performance Plan for all employees
- Design and maintain employee orientation program.
- Knowledgeable about Benefits Plans available at the Fund and assists employees
- Administers the Fund’s Workmen’s Compensation Program as required by the State
- Researches and provides up-to-date resources in annual salary surveys for annual staff compensation reviews.
- Conducts background and reference checks for prospective employees utilizing viable resources
- Conduct exit interviews
- Provides historical reference by defining procedures for retention, protection, retrieval, transfer and disposal of records.
- Maintains office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layouts, moves, and equipment procurement.
- Coordinates in-house meeting arrangements for staff including room availability and technical needs.
- Manages maintenance and leasing of office building to include, current leases, advertise new lease space, and ensure that all tenant services such as trash removal, landscaping, snow removal and janitorial and technical services are provided.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required to ensure smooth business operations.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor degree plus two years of Office Management Experience which includes personnel and facility management.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in handling confidential personnel matters
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong computer skills and careful attention to detail
- Above average knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
DESIRED
- Knowledge of American Indian culture and the tribal college movement desired

Director of Resource Development
The Director of Resource Development (the Director) is responsible for managing the planning, execution, and evaluation of all resource development related activities of the Fund. This includes, but is not limited to, the direct mail program, special events, and the cultivation and solicitation of major individual, planned giving, donor advised fund, corporate, foundation, and tribal donors and prospects.
