Tribal Colleges - NE Nebraska Indian Community College![]() Nebraska Indian Community College began as the American Indian Satellite Community College in 1973. The college was chartered as a two-year college by each of the three Nebraska Indian Tribes in 1979. In 1996 the Winnebago Tribe established its own tribal college and is no longer affiliated with Nebraska Indian Community College. Nebraska Indian Community College is an Indian-focused institution offering a liberal arts and vocational education. One of the college’s missions is to offer the opportunity to study and learn their Native languages, histories, philosophies, literature and religions. The college maintains campuses in Macy, Omaha, Santee and South Sioux City. The college maintains partnerships with the Omaha Public School System, Clarkson Hospital, the AIM Institute and the Nebraska Tribal Nations of the Omaha, Santee, Winnebago, and Ponca.
